Myfanwy – pronounced (Myf) Muv (an) Ann (wy) oi. A little trickier to pronounce, but a lovely name meaning My fine one. The name Myfanwy is the title of a beautiful Welsh love song. Nerys – pronounced (Ner) Nerr and (ys) hiss. Meaning lady, this unusual Welsh name gained popularity in the 70’s due to the television series the Liverbirds which starred Nerys Hughes.
Rhiannon – pronounced (Rhi) Ree and (ann) Ann and (on) on. This and the shorter Rhian is one of the loveliest Welsh names. It’s meaning is derived from witch, which sounds a little unsavoury, but was probably used in the context of wise woman.
Sian – pronounced (Sian) Sharn is the Welsh form of Jean and is derived from the Hebrew for God is Great.
Seren – pronounced (Se) Sa as in safe (Ren) as in hen is the Welsh name for Star, the perfect name for the little star.
